RIPPED OFF IN SAN PEDRO FOR PARKING test1
Something very unfortunate that happened to me.!!! I am not one to bitch and moan unless it is warranted, and in this case it is (even though it was some time agao years ago). I went on an overnight trip to Catalina out of 22nd St. Landing in San Pedro. Prior to going, I called the landing, out of concern for parking. Since it was not in the greatest area of L.A.. I was told by someone on the phone that they had secured parking, that it would be no problem. Trusting the info, I parked my truck in the lot across the street on Friday night and embarked on the overnight trip to Catalina. When I returned to my truck the next day, the passenger window was broken out, and my pullout stereo (which was under the seat) was gone. Not to mention the dash being torn apart for the sleeve that the stereo goes in. I also lost my wallet and credit cards which were in the glovebox (I will take partial blame for that mistake!). also lost some other valuable items that where in the truck, out of sight. When a harbor patrol officer that was in the area heard what had happened, he said, "Oh yeah, that happens here all the time, they should do something about it." When I talked to 22nd St. Landing about it, they told me that no one who works there said anything about secured parking on the phone. To get to the point, that trip cost me about $1500 and I also filed a lawsuit, which I later dropped because I could not prove anything. I will never fish there again and advise all who park there to think twice before doing so!!! Even though this happened some time ago I feel it is my duty to tell and warn my fellow fisherman about this situation. Please do not let yourselves get ripped off. Thanks for your time.
