Beacon Upholstery Inc. test1
On the morning of Jan 22, 1999, I contacted Beacon's Upholstery regarding a chair that I wanted upholstered. Within a hour I received a phone call from Michael Eads, (Beacon's sales manager.) He came to my home that afternoon with samples and a decision was made on the color and fabric. The arms on the chair were wooden, and because the chair is 30 plus years old, Michael said, and I quote, "They will touch up the wooden parts -- it will look like new!" I also had a small sleeping couch that my cat used as a clawing board, Michael agreed to have the sides re-upholsered, at no charge. The total cost for the chair was $593.00 and I give him a check for $293.00 balance due at delivery. Pick-up was scheduled for the following day, and when the sleeper couch was removed from the bedroom, the movers made "muiltiple marks on the door frame." The driver made a note on the pick-up slip and also for "Michael to call the customer." Now, fast forward to Feb 25 I received a call that the chair and sleeper would be delivered on Saturday the 27th, between 1:00pm and 5:00pm and only a cashier's check would be accepted. That should have been my first clue that Beacon's did not stand behind their work! Since I had to work that day, I contacted a friend to be here between 1:00pm and 5:00pm, but when I arrived home at 6:00pm, there had been no delivery nor any phone call concerning the delivery. Finally, at 8:00pm I received a call that the truck had broken down, -- they had rented another truck and the delivery would be made by 9:00pm. 9:00pm became 10:00pm and at 10:30pm the diver and his helper arrived, the chair and sleeper couch were brought in -- the cashier's check was presented and I once again reminded the movers about the multiple marks on the door frame, and that I had never received a call from Michael after the first notation. So, the dirver again made a note on my receipt to "Please call the customer regarding door frame!!" The next morning, I realized that the touch-up on the wooden areas of the chair had not been touched. I have called Michael and the store at least 8 times and have only received empty promises. There has been three scheduled appointments by Michael and he has yet to show up. After many calls to contact Michael's supervisor Ray, I finally received a return call after I left a fictious name. He promised that Michael would handle the problem, and Ray said he would call back which he did. Again Michael made another appointment but never showed! I WOULD NEVER, EVER RECOMMEND BEACON'S UPHOLSTERY!!!! I AM A WALKING ADVERTISEMENT FOR WHAT I LIKE --- I AM A LOUD WALKING ADVERTISEMENT FOR WHAT I DON'T LIKE!!!!!! NEVER USE BEACON!!!!!!!!!
