Custom Auto Body ---- No Written Estimate --- Want's Insurance Money -- Repairs a Rip Off test1
Took my car for an estimate only. Told him I wanted to get another estimate as well. Shop said that was fine. Ask me about insurance. Shop said that I could leave my car their, and that the insurance adjustor and do his estimate there at their shop. The shop told me that I had to sign giving them permission to leave the car there and to do an estimate for the repairs and cost of labor only. I told them again that I just wanted an estimate, and that's all. I told them that I would have to hear from my insurance, before I decided what I wanted to do. Shop said that was fine. I told him again, don't do anything until you hear from me. I told him I don't want any work to be done on it. Called the shop a few days later and told them, I still wanted to get one more estimate. The shop then tells me that they started the work and was waiting for a part to come in, I was very upset about this, what could I say, but to finish it I guess. I called the shop a few days later, they tell me the car is done, and that the owner say's he won't release the car until he gets the check from the insurance co, which I thought that was really weird. So I received the check a few days later, they knew how much the check was for because the insurance adjustor did his estimate at there shop. So I went down to pick my car and had to friends with me, I was very upset because I ask them 4 times to see my car and all they could say was do you have the insurance money ? Over and Over. So finally I looked around and saw my car in the other garage where it was block in against the back and side wall and another car right along side of it. So I squezze along the right side of the car and I open the door enough that I just about it the ceiling when I saw it. It was a mess, on the inside and out. The part did not match, things were not fix etc...So any way I went back there 3-4 times asking them each time I went back as I had witnesses each time exactly what did you do to fix this car. They told the same thing each and every time I had ask him. I also ask for a Bill, itemized statement and they said no, just look on what the insurance estimate says, that what we did. Again they ask for the money, I ask them how much and they said whatever you got from your insurance co. This went on at least 3-4 times, same answer each timeso I didn't pay them. So now what they did is put a lien on my car and added storage charges, The insurance check was for approx 1300.00, within a day's time they up it to 1900.00. I have been very upset about this whole ordeal, that I can't sleep and it's making me very emotionaly distraught. Do you think that you could help me ? I would really appreciate it, since I am stuck without a car.
